When I was watching the live stream of the press conference where Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi meets the press, I recognized a familiar face, my respected journalist friend, Muhammad Asghar from Associated Press of Pakistan. And his question was comprehensively answered by the FM Wang Yi.

Asghar has been calling Beijing home for over seven years. We quickly arranged to meet, and his warm welcome was nothing short of heartening.

During our conversation, Asghar shared his thoughts on China's pivotal role in maintaining world peace and promoting win-win development. He spoke passionately about how China's philosophy of win-win development not only uplifts its own people but also benefits other countries, creating a bond that feels just like a friendly neighborhood.

Asked about his personal story, Asghar told me about his son, who is pursuing his master's degree here in China. Although opportunities beckoned from Europe, Canada, and Australia, his son chose to remain in China—learning the language and embracing the peace and stability this country offers as he builds his future.

What truly touched my heart was when he invited me to visit Pakistan, saying, "You will be warmly welcomed. I'll host you in my home, no hotels needed." His genuine hospitality shone through his every word. As he so beautifully put it, "the friendship of China and Pakistan is higher than mountains, deeper than seas, and sweeter than honey."

From discussing China's dynamic policies to Asghar's travel plans to Guangzhou—the city where I live and that's on his bucket list for a long time—our conversation was a delightful blend of insights and personal warmth. We promised to meet in Guangzhou this summer.
