The Hexagon Smart Manufacturing Center in Dongying has become a flagship example of how Chinese cities are accelerating their transition toward intelligent, high-precision, and digitally integrated manufacturing.

Established in partnership with the global technology group Hexagon, the center introduces advanced measuring equipment, digital-twin technologies, and automated quality-control systems, providing manufacturers across northern China with access to high-end industrial solutions. Since opening, the center has supported companies in fields such as mold casting, offshore wind equipment manufacturing, and petrochemical machinery. By providing real-time data visualization, digital simulations, and automated inspection, the center helps firms reduce production costs, shorten testing cycles, and improve product reliability—key requirements for competing in both domestic and international markets.

For Dongying, the Smart Center is an essential building block in its strategy to upgrade from traditional manufacturing toward high-tech industrial clusters.
